Problems, BIG and Weird

OK,
here it is,
ABIT KT7- RAID with 1.4 ghz tbird and gf3
everything was working splendid with 386 mb PC133 NCP ram (256 + 128)
but, I bought 2 x 256 more and tried putting them in

with the new 512 mb ram, 2 x 256 silly noname...it was also fine and swell
but I wanted more and more power like some insane fanatic🙂 shoot me, so I put the old 256 NCP module together with the new 2 x 256
but, ... doing that, or dont know in the middle of the process something began to smell funny from the floppy area. there wasn't smoke, there wasnt fire
I didnt had static electricity in me nor the ATX power cord was in the PSU so no power on the mobo what so ever
Powering the PC on and... nothing. It did get to the Ram readout (counting the ram) and it halted there
Reboot
It didnt even get to the ram readout. CMOS Clearing, nothing, GPU change, nothing
I took all the PCI devices, and put the oldest 256 module with which the CPU was working perfectly, NOTHING, did put the 128 mb module. nothing.!
Did put one of the new 256 modules and it booted, went to the windows start and it halted on the desktop with half of the wallpaper displayed.
Hardware reset (ctrl alt del wont work) and it did get to the RAM read out and halted 🙁
Using a old PC100 32mb ram module I was also getting halts at the ram readout and in windows startup and...weird weird weird, my PC wasnt like before 🙁
So, what can it be? While using the 32mb ram I flashed the bios, went to the oldest most stable version and still the same problems.
Since the smell, nothing is the same
the Ram is not demaged, I am writing this with all of the 768 mb ram put on the old Celeron 400 mashine :-(

What could possibly be the problem, some condensator dead or something or PSU issues ?

sorry for the long post
