I have two problems, but they are unrelated. The first problem is a shaking monitor. It's been replaced and it still shakes. I think I'm going to have to live with that annoying problem. The second problem is a video problem. It isn't a video card problem though. When ever I do anything graphically intensive, like play a game, the image on the screen disappears and is replaced with vertical lines that are the same colors as the colors that use to make up the image on the monitor. Music will still play after this happens and sounds from pressing mouse buttons still happen after the image problem. I replaced a 9700Pro and recieved a 9800Pro from ATI. The problem is still there. The monitor was replaced for the shaking but the shaking is still there. I think I'm going to cry because I can't figure out what could be causing all of this.

The shaking still happens even with a video out connection from a laptop. The vertical lines still happen on a different brand of monitor. I don't know what other information to give so just ask if you have any clue as to what is happening.

A shaking monitor picture is related to electrical problems. Whether is is a fan, and A/C unit, a refrigerator, it is hard to say. Try it in a different plug then a different location and make sure all electronic devices are far away from it. I had a shaky monitor when my fridge kicked on...in the other room.

No where in my apartment is safe from the shaking so I've given up on fixing that. I'm more worried about not being able to play any games.

If your entire apartment does it, then you have an electrical problem. Try it with different appliances unpugged.

The monitor shook at my university dorm room as well.

My bigger concern is the video thing with the horizontal lines that take over my screen forcing me to restart my computer.

The video card and monitor have been replaced.

The video problem has gotten real weird. I made a similar post a Futuremark.com and this is what has happened so far.

Suggestions on how to get better shielding?
