Problem with XP startup!

I had installed XP... went through the whole setup without rebooting unnecessarily... And when it boots up after the whole setup is completed, all i get is the blue screen after it says "Welcome" and it stays there for a very long time. Haven't gone pass that screen. It has the hour glass mouse icon showing it's busy and my HD is lighten, but this lasts for like 15 minutes. I don't know what went wrong.

I did reinstall XP... still same problem...

ABIT KT7-RAID (Not Using Raid)
AMD 1.2
ATI Rage 32 MB
Sound Blaster Live MP3 + 5.1
NIC
Adaptec SCSI
CD-R but wasn't on during Setup

Make sure you do a clean install....ie format the HD then install. I have heard of this hang being caused by upgrading rather than doing a clean install. If that doesn't work or you did do this in the first place, pull out all your cards except for your video card and then do it again. You might have some kind of IRQ conflict in your hardware. If it comes up with no cards in it, then put them in one at a time until you are up and running.

yea i did do a clean install... now i think i have a problem with my cd... darn...=T i'll most likely do what brisco said... if i have no other options...

thanks it works fine after taking out my sound card, nic and etc.... but then... uhm.... how am i supposed to use those cards... it boots into desktop but nothing comes out... just my HD light is on but nothing seems to be happening. (this is after i put my cards back in) was i supposed to do it one by one?

You have to isolate what card is causing the problem. Try inserting one card, boot, another one, boot, and so on, until you find the rotten apple...
