Problem with Word 2007 doc accessed in Word 2003

I typed a 19 page college assignment in Word 2007. I saved it in Word 97-2003 format (looks great) and emailed it to my lecturer. My lecturer is using Word 2003 and she printed my assignment and marked it. Today I received my assignment back in hard copy but I noticed the alignment and spacing of the document is way off although the text and graphs appears to be accurate. Is this a common problem?

I'm definitely sending it as a PDF file next time.

What font did you use? Word 2007 defaults to Calibri, which is not included in Word 2003. Perhaps a different font was substituted when she opened the document and the new font threw off the alignment.

I suspect that you're right. I did use Calibri font but then what's the point of saving it to Word 97-2003 format if it's still distorted?

If you used a non-standard font in Word 2003, you'd encounter the same issues when sharing a document.
