Alright I've been running Win2kS for over a year now with little to no problems, and 448MB memory (plenty for my purposes).
I installed VisualStudio6.0 two days ago, and since have had a multitude of strange, and most likely related issues. They include:
- 'not enough memory' errors
- multiple GUI issues (mouse cursor not visible, icons not visible, desktop not refreshing, missing images, etc...)
- very slow response times (i.e. - accessing My Computer, Documents, Start button, etc... -- takes ~1-2 min)
I have found the following information on an issue with MDM (Machine Debug Manager) within Visual Studio:
http://www.pcforrest.freeserve.co.uk/mdm.htm
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q221438
These temporary files do in fact appear in my Windows folder, as specified.
I have turned off script debugging within IE, although I would like to use this feature once I get further into Studio. It doesn't seem like there is a very good solution to this problem, while keeping the debugging utility? I would have thought that MS would have issued some kind of patch for this, or something...
I have also heard that you should try disabling the MDM service, but no such service appears in my list. (Most likely this is b/c I installed VisualStudio while running 98SE (dual-boot) -- I should have mentioned that earlier.)
So anyways, I guess I just wanted to see if anyone else has run into this problem, and what approach you took to resolving it. This is beginning to be a *very* frustrating problem for me, and I can only use my computer effectively for about 45min before I start running into these problems.
Thanks alot for any help!!
PS -- while I'm posting, could someone remind me how to make a bootdisk in Win2kS? I thought it was under Add/Remove Progs, but can't find it...forgetfulness.
TIA!
