the install of mediaplayer 7 bluescreened, and though after rebooting all the files seemed to be there ,I get an application error whenever I run it. Same thing happened the second try. Third time I downloaded a new copy and got through the install ok but still get an "application error" messsge when I start it up.Is it fixable? How do I get the old media player back without reinstalling windows?

The old media player should still be there...
C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\MPLAYER2.EXE

To reassociate your files with the old media player, go to the View menu -> Options -> Formats tab... choose the ones you want to reassociate.

Yes, but your old version should be there as well.

C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\MPLAYER2.EXE is your old version.
C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\WMPLAYER.EXE is Media Player 7.
