problem with voltage

I have a amd cpu and it has 2 voltages 2.9 core and 3.3 IO but my mother board only has one voltage setting so I am guessing here? I should set the voltage for the lower one to be safe is this correct?

Generally when a mobo has only one voltage setting, it is for the core voltage of the CPU.

The 3.3v is the I/O voltage for the mobo, the 2.9 is the core voltage for the chip.
