Problem with video display upon boot-up

I've finally saved enough to put together my dream machine. The only problem is that upon boot-up, the screen is garbled (you can see the normal boot information, but there is extra stuff all over the screen).

Here are my specs:
AMD XP 2100
Epox 8K3A motherboard
Corsair XMS2700 DDR memory (256 Mb)
Gainward GeForce 4 Ti4600 video card
Samsung SyncMaster 955DF monitor

Now, here is one possible problem area - the Gainward has 2 DVI connectors and one S-Video, but my monitor does not accept either. The card came with an adapter, though.

(Yes, this is the first time I've booted up (actually, the first 8-9 times I've booted my new system))

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Have you tried booting on both ports? Mine boots on the DVI but once in XP switches to the VGA.

Yes, I've tried both outputs.

I have just re-seated my memory and video card and will try that.

I'm at a complete loss (and am hoping it doesn't mean a problem with either my motherboard or video card)
