Problem with USB mouse

I Have just installed win 98 SE. But I can't reboot or close windows because og my Logitech Pilot USB Wheel mouse. When I am trying to reboot or close windows, then the computer frezes when the windows logo appears with the text "windows is closing" or something like that. But if I unplug the mouse when the text appears, then it don't frezes and windows reboots or closes without any problems.

Are there anyone who can help on this, or do I really have to unplug the mouse every time?

I have installed all drivers and my motherboard is ASUS CUSL2.

Start-run-msconfig

in the general tab, click on the advanced button

make sure that fast shutdown is disabled.

This has something to do with the way windows works with drivers during shutdown. If a driver 'doesn't like' the way windows wants to dump it during the fast shutdown process, the system can hang. It normally hangs during the 'windows is shutting down' screen. By disabling the fast shutdown feature, the shut down process will take maybe a second or two longer, but no errors. You could also try and upgrade every driver you have!!

I think shutdown problems as described is Win98SE related?
Supposedly there is a "patch" from MS that corrects this.....
