I run XP on a P4 with ASUS MB. Wenn I shut down the computer it doesn't stay off. It's like I selected restart instead of shut down.
Anyone have any idea where I should start looking?

Strange problem, and this is a complete guess, but could it be a shorted power switch?

To test for something like that, you could probably detach the power switch connector from the motherboard (the tiny lead coming from the switch) and then tell XP to shutdown. I wouldn't suggest trying this unless you know EXACTLY what you're doing though. I don't believe it will cause any problems, but I don't want to feel responsible for you shorting your board. :)

Shutdown problems are usually caused by driver issues or flaky ACPI support.

Make sure you have the latest chipset drivers and BIOS for your motherboard and make sure you have the latest drivers for your other hardware components. If that doesn't help disabling ACPI in the BIOS and reinstalling Windows XP might help.
