Problem with Toshiba Satellite and Half-Life...

Hey all,

I have a small problem with my Toshiba Satellite laptop running Half-Life.

I like to play Counter-Strike, and It used to play with no problems on my laptop.

My laptop runs Windows XP Pro, and here are the specs.

Toshiba Satellite 1410-S173
1.8GHz Celeron Proc
512MB RAM
30GB HD
CDRW/DVD
Floppy
16MB GeForce 420 Go

This laptop used to run Counter-Strike @ 1024x768 with no problems. Ran like 100FPS.

I have 2 of these laptops. I just freshly reloaded one just 2 days ago.

Here is what happens:

I can launch the game, and when I hit multiplayer, it minimizes the screen and will not play at all.

The only thing I can think I might have done is WindowsUpdate. I have no idea what update might have caused this problem, or if it was an update that did it.

I have the latest version of all the Half-Life and Counter-Strike stuff.

This laptop has successfully played the game. Only recently has it not wanted to work. If I set the display to OpenGL, Direct3D, no matter what display resolution it just minimizes the game.

I am using Toshiba Nvidia Drivers. I cannot use other drivers (as far as I know) I tried using regular detonator drivers and that didn't help either.

The laptop that I freshly loaded a couple days ago....wont play either....

Hmm....

All help is appreciated.

Thanks,
😀
