Okay, I hadn't thought of that. I don't know how they came up with that amount for authorization, though. I guess you're right.

Was the meal $17.32? Because $19.05 is exactly 10% more than that. 10% would be a pretty crappy tip though. Unless you're... well, it would be a pretty crappy tip.

That sounds right...although when it happened to me once, it added 10% more to my TIPPED amount.

I put $15.xx as my final tipped amount but on my online banking it showed $15.xx + 10% of that. It later corrected itself in a few days.

But if you wrote $17.xx+$6 for $23 something, then I dont know why it's showing as $17.xx + 10%.

 
I'm not sure how credit card tips work. Maybe someone with a higher up position in a restaurant can help but I think the waiter takes his tip money home in cash with the receipt simply as proof he earned it.
