Staples gave me a $20 credit. Details below.
I've been talking to various people at Staples for over a week on this problem. They all search for the product and don't find any mention of the rebates we are talking about. Then they search their rebate site and don't see it there either. When I insist that the
rebate I am talking about is at their website, none would even bother to go to that page to check it out. I even chatted with their online customer service guys on this. Their rebate people said they will mail the rebate form, without quite understanding which of the 2 forms are missing (I suspect they are mailing the upgrade form; I haven't received it yet).
I waited for 5 days and when the form had still not shown up in my mail, I called Staples again today. The first lady transferred me to their rebate service, inspite of my request to not do so. I called again and told the next CSR that I don't want to be transferred to anyone until I ask to be transferred, that I have a problem with a rebate and that she is about the 30th person I am talking to at Staples about it. I told her I am very upset and have spent hours on the phone as a result of Staples' fault.
She listened to my story, looked at my order, went to the web page with the 2 rebates, searched for them, couldn't find them and finally offered to give me credit for the $20.
