You folks have helped me with a few problems in the past, which i greatly appreciate. So, I thought I would sheck in with another, hopefully minor problem.

When I try to download a video file from the internet, I get a message that it is being sent to my temp file. When the file is downloaded, I pull up the temp file and it is empty. Any ideas?

Also the file shows up as "file name".unk. I am unable to change the unk designation.

I am using Win Media Player 9 and Real One player to play video files.

Thanks for any help.

Depending on which operating system you have, you may have more than one TEMP folder. To save this confusion, I always create a C:\DOWNLOADS folder and download everything to there. If it is something that needs expansion after downloading, then I do this in a sub-foder under DOWNLOADS. This way, I always know where it is.

As for your specific problem, it sounds like something you are running to enhance security doesn't like the extension of what you are trying to download and it blocking it.

Thanks for the reply, Swampster.

I am using Win 98SE. When I try to download a video file I get a message that is is being downloaded to the temp file. It won't let me change the distination and it won't let me change the unk designation.

I will try to drop the security settings and see if that helps.
Thanks again.

Anyway, I did a Google on your extension and this is where I as getting the information that the security settings on something (not necessarily IE) are causing this.

Ok, I set the security settings as low as I can without turning them off( on IE). Still got the problem.
I'll try the firewall next. Thanks.
