Problem with system. Any idea what could be causing it?

I went to fire up Janes F/A-18 and it wouldn't. Just got the XP error of Tell MS about this problem, yadda, yadda. I then went to try the Multiplayer Demo of BF1942 and as soon as it searched for servers, it kicked me out to the desktop with no error. Both were working fine earlier today. I haven't downloaded or installed anything (or updated any drivers for that matter) before they stopped working... (as a side, the demo for Jedi Knight 2 worked fine). I went into the event log of XP and there appears to be 2 different messages with Janes F18 failing to run.
AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to read from an illegal IO port address (0xcfc), which lies in the 0xcf8 - 0xcff protected address range. This could lead to system instability. Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance.

The Secdrv service failed to start due to the following error:
A device attached to the system is not functioning.
Those were in System. Application errors:

Faulting application f18.exe, version 1.0.0.1, faulting module f18.exe, version 1.0.0.1, fault address 0x0000986c.
and
Fault bucket 01083256.

I am totally at a loss as my system is usually rock solid and nothing was installed/changed by me.

XP Home
1.2Ghz Tbird
640MB RAM
MSI K7T Pro 2a mobo
GF3ti200
SB Live

Any ideas?

Well, I will update it but I just don't understand why it would work just fine one minute and then 1/2 an hour later not.

Oh well. Thanx

Well, updated the BIOS. Same story, no joy.

Any other ideas? I'm getting desperate here and may just end up doing a reformat.

BTW - I really like MSI's bios update utility. It does it all for you when you boot with the floppy. Pretty much foolproof.
