Hello everyone!
first time poster here.

i'm having a problem with my network. basicaly it's with my main computer, the problem is that it connects at 10mbps having everything capable of 100mbps. but it just can't connect at that speed.

here's my setup :

internet --> router <--> switch <--- > pc1, pc2
512kbps speedstream 5200 gigafast EZ500-S (10/100)

pc1 : amd k62 433mhz, 96mb ram, rtl8139 NIC win 2k,connects at 100mbps

pc2 : intel p4 2.6gh, 256mb ram, integrated 1gbps NIC, 3com 905tx NIC, win xp
> connects only at 10 mbps with any of the NICs <

i'm suspecting about the switch, what you think could be the cause of the problem?

i'm really frustrated, please help. thanks in advance.

I suspect the cable, but then I've seen so many mis-wired cables that I'm used to thinking that way. :) If the pairs aren't matched properly, you'll get lots of dropped packets and 10mbit operation for cables of any length.

nop, have changed cables, forced the NICs to work at 100mbps but gives me the "unplugged cable". i'm very sure is the switch because i have an 8 port switch wich his power supply got blew and everything worked fine with that. but i'm yet to read something bad about this tiny ez500-s switch.

I have three of them, two in everyday use, and they've worked 100% for me. Everytime I see a free after rebate deal on them, I get another one. :D
