i have a soundblaster 2 zs soundcard which ws working fine and then i ran into some problems, as the sound just stopped working. i think its the speakers because i plug in some regular desktop speakers sound comes out. my speakers are logitech 5.1 z-5300's. i've noticed i have some audio playing on the computer and i turn the speakers on then i can year whatevers playing for about an eighth of a second, then it cuts out. i've tried reintsalling drivers, and im sure all the cables are connected correctly. any ideas would be appreciated.

Yeah, that really sounds like a speaker problem if other speakers work in the soundcard.

Just to make sure... try plugging the front jack of the z-5300s into another source (like a portable cd player or an mp3 player). If they still cut out, then it's a problem with your speakers.

i hookedup the front jack to a mp3 player and it did indeed cut out again, but i have this cord that turns the front jack into two component female jacks and since the speakers for my logitech 5.1's hook into the sub with component i plugged them into that and then they played, so im assuming the speakers themselves are working fine, which leaves the problem with the amp or the control panel. i am guessings the controls are to blame becuase no that sound isn't working i've noticed that i cannot go through the options on it, i.e. sub, fade, center. any more ideas : /

You might be able to buy just a replacement control pod from Logitech if you think that's the problem.

Do you know if they're still under warranty? You might want to send them an e-mail and ask about getting a replacement set.
