Problem with sound

I have an audigy 2 zs, with all the latest drivers according to creativelabs auto software update, and in several games i have the problem that sound gets crackly and then shuts off completely until whatever is making the sound stops. For example in XIII when you fire the assault rifle it starts off as pop,pop,pop,pop,crackle,pop, crackle,crackle,silence.....until I stop firing

In GTA San Andreas the vehicles/walking sounds turn off randomly it seems. Also when it is raining and the door of a safehouse garage opens the rain sound shuts off. Is this some problem with my sound card? If anyone can help it would be MUCH appreciated since it seems to be happening in alot of games now 🙁
