problem with sound

sometimes when i play games, listen to music my sound automatically mutes iteslf. is there anyway i can fix it. and the only way to get sound back is if i reinstall sound drivers.
 
Install SP2 for XP if you haven't already, that will clear up the USB problem anyways. You may have to manually update the USB drivers after the update.
