Problem with Sound Blaster Live

OK, I've been putting up with this problem for months and it's driving me nuts. I have an SB Live Value and it works fine except whenever anything happens on the screen (animated gifs, opening a window, some games) There is a crackling static noise on top of the music or sound. I've tried everything and I can't seem to find the cause.
Can anyone help me out here?

I had the same type of thing happen to me... every time there was heavy network access I got static all over the place. Changing the IRQ of my network card helped to fix that, so maybe you've got the same problem with your video card.

FWIW, I have the same problem, except mine happens ALL the time, regardless of what I'm doing. I figured it was the SBLive, so I swapped that for a different card (Philips Acoustic Edge) Still have the same problem... 🙁

Try this:

Go to Control Panel, System & on the device manager tab, under miscelaneous audio devices, disable sb16 emulation. This will disable support in DOS, but it will free up an IRQ and may solve your problem.

Your sound card are on slot 1 ? Because a lot of mobo have the agp slot and pci slot 1 shared. I have the same problem and I moved the SB to slot 2 or 3 (generally they're not shared)

My SB Live is in slot 3, I can't change my vid card IRQ and I tried disabling SB16 emu, and it was still full of static.
Thanks for your suggestions though

Most likely an IRQ conflict problem. I don't know which OS you are running, but Win2k likes to shove like 3 or 4 devices on one IRQ on my system. I had to force my Live! on a different IRQ and disable SB16 DOS emulation to alleviate a skipping problem I had with Winamp (it would skip like mad when another sound played while an MP3 was running).

For me the problem only occurs during gaming. It wont do it in multiplayer Mechwarrior 4, but will in singleplayer. In SimCity 3k Unlimited, its so bad that I have to turn the entire sound system off, and in Half-Life, it does it in both single player and multiplayer. But in multiplayer it only seems to occur when the Reverb setting is utilized. (Aka interior maps, etc.) Ive tried moving the CD out wires around, different slots, different CDROM drive, et.c And nothins worked...its quite frustrating 🙁
