I can't seem to play them? Half Life runs, but can't see any servers? Empire Earth, the screen resizes, then back to desktop? I have the newest patches for both games and the newest drivers for video card.
 
I presume this is for your Shuttle AK31A ver.3.1 rig,anyway do you`ve the VIA 4 in 1 drivers installed,also get the latest drivers for monitor & your onboard sound,some bios tweaks might help,disable video ram cacheable,disable system bios cacheable,disable all video shadowing, last resort would be to try and run in 2x AGP mode(you shouldn`t need too),btw do any of your games run fine & what PSU are you using?

Anyway, I will vouch for the VIA 4-1, video drivers, and most recent updates thing. Counter-Strike would not
run at all on my system. That is until I did ALL THIS...and did some installing. It ran great.
OH YEA ANOTHER THING.........If you have an Athlon on WIN XP that AMD patch thing is a must.
Some people mention it costing....well just do a windows update and under on of the
categories of update there will be AMD K7 Windows Xp Update.
This makes sure all your DIRECT X stuff runs right under your AMD chip.

All I need to do now is get AVP GOLD to run.....Anyone got some info on that one 😛 LOL

Thanks Mem, you are correct on the Shuttle AK31A ver.3.1, installed VIA's newest flavor and Empire Earth works now. Half Life still down though. Gonna try a reinstall on that.
 
fastman,no problem,btw with Half-life get all the updates,then try it both offline and online in OpenGL first then try D3D,this should narrow down what the problem is with a bit of luck.

I also got AVP GOLD to work 🙂

Yea a simple update and compatibillity change made the game finally run after 8 months 🙂
