Problem with router

I have a dlink wbr-2310, and it's so far been nothing but trouble. Everything technically works, except for a few frustrating issues.

First my computer loses the connection several times a day. This doesn't seem like it should happen since, the router is only twenty feet away with no walls between it and my computer. This I can live with though.

Second, and more serious IMO, is that some websites stop loading halfway through and I can't connect to them anymore. Some specific examples are http://uplink.space.com/ubbthreads.php http://xkcd.com/ http://interfacelift.com/wallpaper/ and fileshack.com I have no idea what the websites would have in common that would make my router block them.

Resetting the router solves nothing, different browsers solve nothing, and every computer I try has the same problem. I've tried updating the firmware and even using the firmware from a different model router. I may just return it and spend a little more for a linksys.

yeah sounds like you've got a bad router. The one thing I would suggest is switching the channel on the wireless - otherwise return it and get a new one.

Bad wireless routers really really really suck.

Wireless in general sucks IMO - I'm all about Ethernet

Yeah I think I agree with you. Unfortunately I seem to have lost the receipt so I guess I'm stuck with it.

try a tracert to those sites and see where the packets head, also ping the sites and watch the number of MS its taking to hit your router, im betting you've got some interference somewhere. If your running 802.11b watch out for cordless phones/baby monitors or anything on the 2.4ghz spectrum.

Yeah switching channels might work, still the same frequency, just a varied ending (2.413 vs 2.417, etc)
