Problem with RJ 45 Port in Internet Distribution box

The Day Dreamer

Senior member
I have to shake, wiggle the RJ45 based cable (and the port light numbered "23" starts blinking up) in the Internet distribution box in my neighborhood and it works for like 5 mins and then again have to do the same to make Internet work again.

I have DSL Fiber optic Internet. What to do? TIA.

Who owns the distribution box? DSL provider? Call them.

The on-field service is very slow. The serviceman came after 3 days and advised me to wiggle and stuff to make it work. It's the only Internet provider good in my area so can't help but keep with the struggle.

The RJ45 socket looks a bit cracked, maybe it's the problem.

It's festival season in my country, so getting the technician again will take a week :'(

Then contact them ASAP, and get an umbrella so if it rains you won't have to stop wiggling the cable.

There's nothing more we can advise, except describe what you see when you report it, in case the field repair tech might bring a replacement box with him/her instead of a mere band-aid fix or a second trip, as you shouldn't be attempting repair of someone else's equipment, and downtime could affect a lot of people.
