Problem with Remote Desktop Client

I'm using the remote desktop client on Windows 2000 Pro to connect to an XP box. Because the admin of this computer lab is a security freak (and I don't blame him) I can't install anything. Therefore I got a copy of the .exe, and run that. It works fine under one user (Alan), but if I log in as myself, the client crashes. I don't know if I'm missing an important DLL. The only difference between the two accounts is that one uses a theme (with the skin and all) and the other doesn't.

Any ideas?

Works with my XP fileserver, at least.

Well, the problem is, with the security settings the way they are, I can't run the web client because it requires software to be installed. Basically, I can't install anything at all. Even if it is a digitally signed web app, we don't even have permission to change the screen resolution!

And Ryan, what the hell are you doing posting in my thread? Haha.

The web-based client allows you to choose the resolution ... and it only affects your web page instance (not the server itself). The server's display is not affected, with the exception that the server's display is locked while you are logged in from the web client (at least with XP Pro).

The only piece of software that must be installed for the web client (Win2K box, right?) is an ActiveX control for IE. Can you attempt to tweak the IE settings to allow the control? To test the theory, try to go to a Flash page or something (presuming that Flash isn't already installed).
