Problem with Printer Cable

Hello,
I have one hp printer and two usb printer cable.
Today the hp printer with cable 1 doesn't work and work with cable 2.
But cable 1 works fine in other printer(canon).
What problem it?
 
Cable 1 to HP is no go. Cable 1 to Canon is OK. Easy fix - put cable 2 on the HP and cable 1 on the Canon. All cables do not always work with all printers. Sometimes it relates to how the specific connectors mate.
