Just resently I got my son a compaq computer (6 months or more).
He got some kind of virus on it and it attached itself to the recovery partition of the hard drive.
when ever i tried to recover the system using the recovery partition it just recovered the system in the same state that it was (with the virus) so i used the windows xp home disk from my system to recover it.
i also upgrading te system with the following items:
1. Radion 9000 vid. card
2. sound blaster live ls
3. Broadxent v.92 PCI Fax Modem

My problem is that when my son plays games on it, it restarts itself after about 30 mins. or so it to the game.

what i'm thinking is it might be over heating because of the extra load that the system has to carry now.
is this possible or does any one have a fix for this problem?
Thanks in advance for anyones help

Heat, possibly, or power load as well.
Motherboard Monitor is a good program that you can use to monitor psu rails and system temperature, amongst other things.

if MBM5 is a bit too much of a pain to set up, have try Speedfan which is a little bit easier.

If you can take the side panel/door off the case, and that stops the crashing, then very likely it's a heat issue (though if you do and it keeps crashing, doesnt necessarily mean it isnt heat, though less likely).
