My only problem with the PC gaming industry is the lack of new updated realistic FPS, like what Ghost Recon was, and a new realistic military flight sim (not this arcade crap or star wars fighter garbage), something like Jane's USAF, Longbow, or Falcon.

Hah I was just playing Ghost Recon this afternoon. That game is so good. I saw there's some Advanced Warfighter sequel out but I have no idea what the reviews are like.

To give you an idea of how slowly I go through games, I have an unused copy of Longbow 2 sitting next to my computer (pulled it out of the closet). Yes, I bought it new when it came out. In 1999. I haven't played it yet. I think I may this week or next week.

Have you tried that new Falcon release? Some company bought the code rights and integrated all the good mods that are around. It's only $30 or so and is supposed to be fantastic. I have the old binder version and I've been meaning to give SP4 a whirl one of these days.

Yeah I have the old binder version also, I might look into that, thanks!

Advanced Warfare is going to suck because they took it too far into the future, if you look on youtube for trailers it is almost like a HALO thing. Sure it is what our military could be in 20-30 years (the technology exsists today, it's the adaptation to it that will take forever), but I would rather carry around an M4 in a game then some futuristic weapon that isn't even used yet.

flight sims, which used to be a big PC gaming staple, have almost died out. they would have been awesome for multiplayer gaming. bomber raid with P51s and Bf-109s and a fleet of B17s would kick ass.

Did you ever play Jane's Fighters Anthology on the Combat Room or whatever the hell their online gaming thing was called? It was fantastic. One part of the game that had so much promise (it's basically what massive online gaming is like right now) but wasn't played much at the time was "airbase assault" mode. It was 2 to ~8 players, and each player was assigned an airbase. You got to pick a lineup of ~10 planes that you would get in order as you died and respawned. With these planes you had to both defend your base from everyone else, and attack the other bases. And besides that you could easily land to refuel and rearm in an instant. I remember so many last-ditch F-111F full afterburner runs toward the last enemy base trying to make it there before that dude blew up my base. Ah, the good times. I just got rid of my copy of Fighters Anthology a couple months ago. Now I wanna play it again lol. :(

Yeah, janes.combat.net. It was so much fun, then one day I go to play it, and the message of horror came up. "These services are no longer offered with game." :(

Ah, yes. You ever fly against Kalashnikov on there? I knew him on the AOL ladder, but I know he played on Combat.net at least a little bit. Damn that guy was good. I later found out his main advantage came from flying with almost no fuel at all, but he was still flawless on combat air tactics.

Wow that made me have a flashback, year I remember him, he always used to kick my ass at first until I started to get better, then I had some chance when we used to play in rooms of 8 or so.

Check and see if you actually need to buy the new F4 version. I believe you can get everything it has for free online, and you're the paying for the convenience of having it in one package. So if you can spend a little while to get it running you can save some cash.

And that sucks about Advanced Warfare! :( I was hoping they were doing 2010 or a time not that far in the future. Do you know if Raven Shield and the addons have gotten any better? The original was so damned hard because the player movement was incredibly un-fluid.

Hah, amazing. He was invincible in 1v1. Like you said your only chance was in a larger room because then he had to load more fuel. My handle Sukhoi actually comes from him. He ran the 584th Flighter Squadron which only flew Soviet planes. When I was finally accepted to join I needed a new handle so I went with Sukhoi. I've used it for online stuff ever since.

I personnaly dont think there is more. For me there isnt enough games for what I play and for what it costs now for the game and everything on the rise (gas, car insturance, rent, food, ect) something has to give and thats fun money.

So its not a matter of too many its a matter of too few good titles that cost too much for the youth on a tight budget or family for that matter.

not quite as few blockbuster games come out for PC however, and many of the ones that do, nowadays are on consoles as well.

but perhaps the biggest problem is that the most popular game on the PC is counterstrike, which people play over and over and over and over and over and over and over again, etc. they don't upgrade to the newest shooters, except maybe CSS. used to be you couldn't play a game over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

yeah it would! I would def get a realistic multiplayer WWII flight sim. I would also like to see more games mix genres now that computers/internet could handle it. Like mixing arge scale RTS games with fps, where commanders play it like an RTS, but people also control each unit

Nice, that explains the handle. Invincible he was.

I will look into that for Falcon, I haven't touched it in a while.

Raven Sheild is good, but it isn't as fun as the original GR trilogy. I wish that someone else besides Novalogic would pick up the Delta Force type of genre, as the urban take down possibilities and missions could be awesome.

As for genre mixing, steps are being taken in the right direction at least, Joint Ops comes to mind.

too busy trying to make a quick buck they can't be arsed to test their stuff. get it out quick and let the players test it then patch it later, if they even do that. and then even the patches are full of bugs.

its companies like EA that are ruining gaming.

I agree.

Have you ever been to Home of the Underdogs? There's over five-thousand computer games on that website and 99.9% of them are shit. They made just as many bad games ten years ago as they do now.
