Problem with Newegg!

I just recieved the dd0201 optorite dual dvd drive I ordered from newegg. First I wasn't happy with the way it was packaged, put in box, peanuts on top only. When I got the box out, it was obvious that it had been opened, no shrink wrap or cellophane, although I don't know if it should have.
Inside the baggy with the software the quick start guide had obviously been handled quite a bit. I am wondering if they just didn't send me a returned drive instead of a new drive. I have always heard they were great to do business with. Any thoughts or anyone know if this should have had shrink wrap or cellophane?

yeah I will call them, thanks for the replies.

all the OEM stuff i got from newegg was wrapped in bubblewrap at least and packed in peanuts. so yeah give them a call.

Just a head's-up that newegg is still mixing in returns and refurbs occasionally: my brother just got the box of parts for his new P4 system, and 2 of the 3 WD drives he ordered are marked "recertified" instead of new.

Newegg's a great company, but they've had this stock-mixing problem going on for at least six months now, they need to look at how they handle returns and refurbs so this stops happening.

newegg doesn't make mistakes.

I would call them and ask them to sort this problem out. Newegg has awesome customer support.

Yeah, I just received a refurbished sound card when the one I ordered was supposed to be new.

I got that same drive from them a couple weeks ago in the same condition you did.

It works great so I wasnt to worried about it.

It's the stupid Mexicans in shipping. They don't understand English. Just a hint: Once you hit the $20k spending mark, your orders are handled by english speakers!

Because you really have to worry about the border jumpers when they have a shipping center in New Jersey also right?

I just ordered quite a bit of stuff from them and the $200 AGP card I got turned out to have problems I didn't notice till after I stuck it in MB. They weren't noticeable unless you were thoroughly inspecting up close w/ flashlight. I am suspecting card may have been opened. It was not sealed. Fan connector was messed up and the bad one was edge contacts have 2 finger prints on them. So now I need to carefully clean my MB AGP slot. The prints were faint only viewable up close w/ flashlight and they remained intake. I have a major problem w/ RMA a board w/ CPU already locked on and for somethin that minor. I also feel that sticking another $200 card in there may not be a good idea till I clean it. It seems like chemtronics pow-r-wash CZ will work with correct applicator...don't need a flush. I have only needed to do this a few times on equipment over the yrs. Mostly older stuff...obviously never a new system. The CZ is new, but it is hard to find enough input on users of this stuff so I am not happy to be dealin w/ this on a new board or the RMA downtime. 🙁
