I recently bought a Maxtor 10 200GB SATA drive to combine with my IDE 80GB western digital, after hooking it up it shows up in bios and when the PC is loading up, but this is what I get when I actually get into windows....

Click

Why is it not showing up? And whats with the Safely Remove Hardware thing?

Thanks.

odd problem. Try stopping it and going to your device manager and having it scan for new hardware. Whats listed in properties?

Ok, fixed it, downloaded maxblast and did it for me, but one last problem:

Click

Now there is Local Disk and the 2nd hard drive.....just wondering, when I download/install stuff will they automatically go into the secondary drive once the main one fills up or do I have to direct them into the second one? If so....is there a way to combine the two drives?

Thanks.

And also, how do I make that Safely removal thing go away? :S

I would guess the hard drive supports hot swapping, so it assumes you will use this functionality. I know there is some place if you navigate through the various properties windows in the hard drives there is an option like "optimize for quick removal", or somethigna long those lines. I'll see if I can direct you to where this is at, but the current computer I'm on doesn't have any devices that support this.
