Problem with netgear router MR814

🙁I bought this router and everything worked fine except one thing. I couldn't get into Yahoo or Hotmail account when I am connected (wired) via the router. It gets into Yahoo but I cannot access any folders. When I connect my modem without the router it works fine. With the router I can able to go into any accounts on the internet except Yahoo and Hotmail. I got the firmware from netgear and uploaded into the router but no luck. Can someone help me?

Check the configuration of the firewall and parental controls in the router setup. It may be blocking something that Yahoo or Hotmail makes use of.

Might also just need to clear your cookies for those sites, or wipe your Internet cache. Those can cause odd problems.

I tried clearing all the cookies and temporary files, no luck. I checked the router configuration and nothing is blocked right now.

I'm sure those sites have troubleshooting/help pages. I bet you need to enable ICMP on your router, I can't think of any daemons those sites would use that you aren't portfwding...

Sorry man I don't know how those guys do things.. I have real mail servers that hopefully aren't monitored by federales 🙂
