Did you plug in the 12v ATX (next to the cpu socket)?? Your power supply should have a 12v to plug in the motherboard. So make sure you have both 20 pin ATX (big power connector) and 12v ATX power connector (small one by cpu socket) plugged in. I had the exact same problem.

thanks for your answer, i really appreciate ...

as a matter of fact my ATX does not have the 12 pin power supply conector,
you mean that the amd atholon 2500 needs that extra supply to work ?
i thought that if the cpu needs extra energy it is established somewhere in the manual or something,

the cabinet i´m using (with the power supply ) is an old one (5 years)
i used it with my old mother MSI 815E PRO (MS-6337) ATX S3 that brokes a month ago,
i plugged it with this new mother and got this situation,

are you sure of this? ... i have to make a lot of kilometers to get to a new power supply ...
but if thats the problem i will do it with a smile ...

i also remember another post in this site regarding this problem, they also said this thing of the power supply, but the guy of the problem answer that with that 12 pin connector doesn´t boot al all,

... so ...

you got the same problem with this mother ?
same cpu ??

thanks again and regards,

m

I got that exact same combo deal. ECS N2U400-A and Barton 2500+. From what I've read and searched, this board needs that 12V plugged in to operate. Honestly, I'm not 100% sure if this is YOUR problem but it is very very similiar and couple other people had this problem also. I suggest you wait and see what other people have to say about this. Seems like your power supply is pretty old. So, just wait for a few more suggestions maybe. goodluck :D

This motherboard also only takes 1.5V agp cards but i'm sure you're fine, just a thought.

Try a different video card. That TNT2 may not be compatible with newer AGP 8x slots.

If your old power supply doesn't have the 12v connector (square with 4 pins), an adapter is available for about $3. Just be sure your old ps is at least 300 watts. Newegg sells a sparkle 300 watt for $28 shipped that will work fine. For the money, it's the best deal you can get on a name brand.

ok ...

just to give a happy ending .... if anyone has the same problem in the future,

it worked out, i change the power supply for a new one with the 12v connector and was ok,

also the video card Nvidia Riva TNT64 is compatible with this motherboard,
notice that this vieo car is 4x and the agp socket of the mother is 8x

so ... let´s try it out to see how it works ...

thanks everyone for your help,

regards,
