i have no idea what you are talkin about? but i bought it bareboned....got a msi nforce mobo...k7n2g....it had on board video, but i uninstalled the xp driver from add/remove programs

Hate to say what you're probably already thinking but your best option is to do a total reload. I feel your pain but if you want to be totally sure just do it. Look for a post created by myself on this forum and you'll see a history of problems I had with my Radeon 9800. Tried all the tricks involved in going from Nvidia to ATI and still had freezes. Finally, I did a format/install of XP Pro and (fingers crossed) so far I've had no problems/freezes. I'm not positive it's stable yet but I'm about 3 hours of patches/updates, proggie installs, and some web browsing. No way that happened before the reload.

NOTE: This is done with default settings. No tweaks with BIOS settings or SmartGART. I'm headed to bed soon and I hope I don't wake to a blank screen, frozen screen, or BSOD. 😉

Good Luck! 🙂

FORMAT 🙂 will fix it !!!!!!

I had the same problem .. when going from a Nvidia card too an ATI card you must format windows XP ....

its a problem with windows XP not fully getting rid of the drivers ... you can also try system restore back befor you ever installed the Nvidia Drivers !! ... if u cant do that then format.

This is a normal issue when changing from Nvidia too ATI cards. 😉

i think i found out the problem, i took my side panel off and there you go, no more freezes on bf42(dc), then i tried sof2 with side on and nothing happened, played just fine. why does this new card need more cooling? any suggestions?

if taking the panel off, you may just have had some high case temps, which will cause everythign IN the case to get too hot (CPU, hard drives, video card)

must be damned hot, but get a case fan put in the side panel. a 80mm panaflo or ys tech fan should do the job nice and quietly

i mean my cpu runs at about 34-36c and the system at about 45c...i have a alumminuim case tooo, got two fans in the front one in the back, wut else do i need....but i htink i get ill get a fan for the side also!!!!!!!! thanks again guys
