problem with my new system

I just put together a machine that consists of

-900 Duron Processor w/ Alpha PAL35
-FIC AZ11 Motherboard
-Crucial 64mb RAM (i know i know, i just ordered a 256mb stick)
-Voodoo3 2000
-...


and occasionally the screen goes blank and Im forced to reboot the system. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Which part of my computer could be faulty?
 
does the screen go blank while you are using it or does it go into sleep/suspend mode and not wake up? what power supply are you using?
 
Hmmm.......if it turns amber then it's actually turning off rather than going blank. You said that it happens when you're using it. So, you mean that you could be listening to music or playing a game and it literally turns off in the middle of what you're doing?

I'm not very familiar with that motherboard. Does it have onboard video? If it does then try that. Also, is it a PCI or AGP Voodoo? Another thing you can do it to listen to music and wait for it to happen again. When the monitor shuts off, does the music continue playing? If it does then you know that your system isn't freezing but rather just the monitor which means that most likely the problem is coming from the monitor or video card. Check to see if you have any IRQ conflicts with your video device. Also, try running the monitor at a lower resolution and color bit and see if it still happens.

By the way.....what kind of monitor is it?
 
Shooters, your suggestions seem very valid to me. But I decided to try upgrade my drivers and it hasnt happened since. Still my fingers are crossed.
