I just upgraded from a 3500+ venice to a X2 4800+ toledo..

now when I reboot my pc after it gets passed the windows xp loading screen (where the bar goes across a few times) right before the welcome screen it sits at a black screen.. forever.. I have to manually turn off my PC and turn it back on for it to get into windows.

are all of your settings in the bios for the processor set to auto or at the stock speeds? did you maybe set an overclock on your 3500 that you forgot to remove? ;)

everything is set to stock.. it runs fine only problem is booting it up. I just did a reboot and had to restart the pc 3 times before it loaded windows. Could it be a new driver I am trying for my video card?

Did you reinstall Windows? Usually when you get to a dual core processor from a single core; Windows poops itself. You may want to boot into safe mode, go to device manager, click on processor tab and update the driver to a "Multiprocessor PC"; otherwise - reformat time!

Have you tried safe mode yet?

You may be able to disable one core in BIOS. Give that a shot as well.
