Problem with my Cendyne Drive

Hey,

I recently purchased a Cendyne CD-RW drive from Amazon.com, but have been experiencing some trouble when it comes to reading CD's.

Everything was fine until I popped in my (legal) version of FIFA 2001. The Autorun works fine, but when I click "play" it asks me to "insert the FIFA CD."

Huh?

The reason this baffles me is because the CD has given me no problems before, while the driver hasn't either. It seems to have a problem with this particular one only.

One thing that I also find funny is that the drive does recognize it to begin with, as the option screen pops up upon insertion of the disk.

Any ideas?

What Firmware version does the drive have? In Device Manager choose the drive and properties. Mine came with 1.5 and although I experienced no problems, 1.9 is available and it is a snap to do the upgrade.

I have version 1.5.

I'll try the 1.9 version.

Just curious...what do you think it might be? What does the software do that actually helps in recognizing the CD?

Has anyone else bought this drive? Any problems so far?

I have heard of this type of issue before, it also has occured with Diablo II and certain CDROM drives. Defenitely update the firmware on the drive, and check the game vendor's site for any patches for it. The anti-piracy CD identifiers being used these days are getting more and more complex.
