Problem with my case or power supply? Trouble turning on my computer

I have a somewhat strange problem with my computer. The only way I can turn on my computer is by switching off the power switch on the back, waiting a few seconds to let it "discharge," switching it back on, and then pushing the power button the the front.

If I do not do this, the power button does not do anything unless I push it like a hundred times. Not really sure where the problem might be. The case, MB, power supply?

what kind of case do you have? I kind of wonder if the front panel connectors have been connected right.

You most likely need to replace the power supply.

What make/model is it, and what else is in the system?

The case is an antec sonata II, motherboard is epox 9npa+ ultra.

Strange thing is that I have had no problems after the computer turns on. No random shut downs or reboots or anything of that sort

Try this: Unplug the power, then hold the power button in 10-15 seconds to discharge it fully. I dont have any experience w/ the case or psu, but, on the machines I usually work on, this fixes the issue of "my computer is not turning on."

You should test the rails with a digital multimeter and see what voltages are present at idle and if they fluctuate under load.

I had to RMA my Antec Smart Power 2.0 400 watt for this very same problem. I bought a cheap $12 power supply from New Egg to tide me over while my psu was gone. Got back a brand new one. Works great.

It isn't new. What kind of warranty do these things have? Got it from newegg if it matters.

Pretty sure there has been problems with Sonata II and PSU. also think Antec is replacing and possible upgrading PSU-check PSU and case forums for more info.

I stopped buying antec cases and ps's a long time ago after I started having trouble with their ps's not starting my systems. It wasn't long ago that they only had like 24a on their 12v rails on the 550w ps's. I've read many horror stories about the neo series going up in smoke. If you do have to buy another ps look at enermax, fortron source or seasonic unless you have tons of cash to burn then look at pcpc.
