Problem with MSI K7T Pro

I just upgraded my classic Athlon to a 1.1GHz T-bird and the MSI K7T Pro from a friend. Anyway it works fine so far, but when I shut down Windows XP, it does not automatically shut down, but instead it had the screen that says something like, "It is now okay to shut your computer down." Then I have to manually go shut the power off which I do not want to have to do. I just bought a new Enermax 365W powersupply, so I am ultra sure that it is not the problem. Is there some setting in the BIOS? Any help would be appreciated.

Also, is there any way to overclock the processor with choosing the multiplier, I did the pencil trick but cannot find anywhere in the bios to change the multiplier.

The MSI K7T Pro cannot be overclocked,no multiplier adjustment in bios,as for your XP problem do you`ve the latest bios version installed? I know there was some bios update fixes for XP for that board.

 
I did the Live BIOS update program, so I figure that it is all updated, but I will take another look. If there are anymore ideas, please post.
 
You tried installing the latest VIA 4 in 1 drivers(4.38) ,you can install them in WinXP, I did (optional if you do or don`t),I would also install the latest monitor drivers as well if possible.
 
I found this "fix". You might want to try it.

My wife's system (same board) does power down with no problem however and I did not check this file on hers. I'm sure it must be a setting like that somewhere in XP or the bios under power management.
 
buz 2b is right.go to kontrolpanel/powersupply/click the box with atxmode or something ,cant remember right now.its in ther somewhere.i had the same probl.after clicking the box to mode something the thing worked.so dont touch the bios.good luck
