Hi, I have a weird problem with my new video card. When I play madden 2004, everything works fine except for when I start the game. Everything looks fine except the stadium and the crowd are all messed up. It looks like white bands with random colors in between. The players, however, look good, should I return the card? It doesn't happen when I play CS. I overclocked for a while then clocked it back to stock and still the same thing happens. Did I mess up my video card? I don't know because everything else seems to run fine. I reinstalled Madden, and reinstalled new drivers and still the same thing.

I do not have that problem. I honestly don't know what can be going on. By reinstalling drivers, did you uninstall old, then install new? Also, how are other Direct3D based games? Madden uses D3D, so I would try running another game that uses it to truly tell if the card is bad. A game like BF1942 would be good. As would UT2K3.

Yeah, I use Omegas and uninstalled the old drivers using driver cleaner and got some new ones. I'm going to try unreal and see if it does any weird stuff. My card shows no artifacts or anything similar of this sort when running 3dmark 2001 or 03. I ran counterstrike with no problems at all either.

I will try the Omegas tomorrow and let you know if there is an issue with Madden 04 on my end.

I found the problem with Omegas based on cat 3.8 and 3.8.5. They don't work for madden 2004. The crowds are all distorted and once I switched back to 3.7s, everything was okay. I'm not too sure why this is the case but I'm sticking with 3.7s. They work for me and I almost returned my $220 open box 9800 np because I thought something was wrong with my card. Luckily I double checked.

off topic, but I am curious.....how is Madden 2004 on the PC? Better/worse than Xbox? I last played 2002 and it was awful compared to even the PS2 version.

Hey, I don't have XBox, just the gamecube but I think the PC version is excellent in graphics and gameplay. However, my friend plays the game more than me and I got the Gravis Gamepad Pro and I found out that I do not have those analog sticks to give me playmaker control, which I don't really know what it is but my friend has played it on PS2 and XBox and says the PC Version looks a lot better. This is of course if you have a nice video card. I got madden 2004 for only $30 at walmart, a great deal when it first came out considering the fact that it's $50 for the xbox version. To me, I think upgrading my computer is better than getting an xbox. Gamecube was for my girlfriend with her mario games and there are many games that I like that are exclusive to GC. Anyways, I recommend Madden 2004, well worth it with extras such as playing online for a year for free, training camps, and the best graphics I've ever seen in a sports game.

I have problems with the Omega 3.8 Cats... The ATi 3.8 Cats work great for me.

As far as how the PC version is, the graphics in game are better, the PS2/XBox/GC have better graphics during replays. The game is best played with the Logitech Dual Action controller, which is almost an exact replica of the PS2 controller, with a slightly wider base.

sdaccord01: Play Maker control is used for changing the play before and/or after the snap. For example, on an offensive run play, before the snap, you can change the direction of the run, and then during the play, you can lead blockers to a certain direction. On pass plays, you can change the route of your receiver, or lead him to a pass. On defense, you can clue your DB's to a certain side of the field before the play, or play the run or the pass during the play. Play Maker is a wonderful feature.
