so today, as I walked through my ktichen, I noticed that there was a hairline crack on the grout.

I tapped on the tile itself, and it sounded hollow, compared to the other tiles. Dont know how to explain it, but I guess that one is starting to come off the floor?

how do I fix this? is it as simple as patching the grout, or do I need to take the whole tile up, put some cement at the bottom and retile it?

you will at a minimum need to remove the tile, cut out the grout with a grout saw or dremel, re-adhere the tile with thinset or mortar (depending on the substrata), replace the tile, and regrout.

As the poster said above, you'll need to pop it out, remove the grout, and put it back down. They do make mastic that you can use that comes in about quart sized containers which is a type of glue. It works well and will be a little easier. The grout is easy, once you get the tile in and centered, you can grout it by getting grout of the same color or as close as possible. You mix the grout with water until it's about the consistency of cake batter and use a good sponge to force it into the cracks. Let it dry overnight and you're all set.
