Problem with K6-2 450

I just bought a K6-2 450 and tried to install it on my motherboard. I had a Pentium 200 that worked fine. The max the motherboard will do is 5.5X83Mhz, which is 456.5 Mhz. The problem I am having is that the computer will boot up, run through the memory test and the shut down and boot up again. It keeps doing this over and over again. I've tried reducing the speed all the way down to 200Mhz and it still does the same thing. I've got the voltage set to auto sensing. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong?
 
How about a few more specs, what PSU? what mobo? are you using a good HS/F with it? can you set the Vcore manually?
 
Hmm, don't know what the motherboard is, the PS is generic 230W and I just have a generic HSF for it. The voltage can be set manually so I'll try that but I don't think that's the problem. ANyone else?
 
Definitely put the voltage on the manual setting. The auto setting on most of the socket7 boards only worked with the intel processors. Both my Gigabyte GA-586TX and Asus P5A have auto voltage settings, but will incorrectly set the voltage to the K6-2s.
