Problem with IrDA on HP DV4040 notebok

My friend is having problems with her HP DV4000 series notebook... after trying a few times to get her infra-red working, it doesn't seem to want to connect to her Nokia 7270, she wants to move some pictures over... if anyone is familiar with this sort of problem, please help me out... thanks in advance....

Irda requires clear line of sight (some people don't realize this). Has she been able to use the infra-red before? Is there an error with the pc suite software?

No suite software... the remote control that came with her lappy works fine, and the phone connects to my T40 with no problems or suite software... I'm stumped... we keep trying to install the IrDA through a COM4 port or something like that and every time we do it the laptop stops the hardware in device manager

"windows has reported problems with the device" or something like that.


Any advice?


EDIT: the lappy doesn't have bluetooth, so the remote must be infra red

Did... the device still doesn't start... seems like we're mapping the IrDA to the wrong port of something... thanks for the advice...
