Problem with ICQ

I am having a problem with ICQ. Everytime that I try to run it, it freezes my computer. I reinstalled it, and registered my UIN number again, but it still freezes my computer. I was hoping that somebody could help me in trying to fix it. I hope that somebody can offer some ideas.

that's odd...
What version are you running?
I would try uninstalling it, and trying a different version.

I have 2000b. I have tried 2000a and 99b. I don't have any more versions. When I run it in windows2000, I get this error saying that I need more virtual memory, but that's a load of junk. I have 256 megs of RAM. I should be ok. I'm just out of ideas, except for formatting, which I really don't want to do.

I am dual booting Win98 and Win2k.

Hey, gtb55447work... thats right...reformat and reinstall. dont try to solve the problem so that you can learn something from it. hose your whole install of all your apps just so you dont have to try and think about what the probelm may be....LOL

check the win2k event manager for more details as to why its crashing...NTFS or FAT32 partition?

Could any of this have to do with the ICQ crasher? Maybe not, but there are a lot of tools for messing with ICQ and ICQ users.

I have a regular FAT partition. I didn't want to mess with that NTFS thing. I know what it does. I'm not sure what it could be. Nobody has sent me anything. I had 2000a, and this happened, so I got 2000b, and everything went ok for a long time. Now everything is screwed up beyond belief. I have no idea why it won't work. By the way...Formatting is a last resort, and that is not what I want to do.

are you using the same UIN? (and backing up your list etc)?

try making a new UIN and see if that works.

you mentioned it weas working for sometime.. have you installed anything that could be conflicting with it?
