what do you do when the horn keeps going off when you turn on the headlights of your car. it's not just one honk but a continual one that doesn't stop until you turn off the lights.

the car is a 93 nissan altima.

thanks for any help!

Sounds like someone is playing a prank on you. It shouldn't take but a wire or two to cause this.

sounds like the wire for the horn got crossed with the headlights. Electrical problems suck when you are trying to find them, though.

I would take it to a mechanic. But then again, I'm car-stupid. I have enough trouble changing my oil.

Probably not doing much night driving, eh?

If it isn't a prank, it is a short. I bet your local Toyota dealer could work it out for you.

you will have to trace the horn and headlight wires all the way to their point of origin and find the short.

Sounds like there is an abraded wire somewhere in the wiring harness, and the horn and headlight wires are crossed.

Wouldn't it take two abraided wires? One for the horn and one for the lights so there is a connection?

it may be the wiring harness that runs through the firewall. That is where the two wires would most definately be close.
