Problem with Handbrake

MotionMan

Lifer
When I try to rip one of my kids' DVDs, Good Night Gorilla (a compilation of four stories), to my Mac, Handbrake recognizes 11 "Titles", four of which, by time length, are obviously the four stories that on the DVD. However, Handbrake only recognizes chapters 1 through 2 and, when I let it rip, it only ripped one of the stories.

I have seen this on other DVDs as well, but this is the most obvious example.

What gives and how can I fix it?

Sounds like you are only selecting one of the titles and not making a queue for all the titles that you need. If I'm wrong, I apologize... but I think you need to select which title you want, then click "Add to Queue"/ rinse and repeat with the other 3 titles. Then once they're all added, just click "Start".

I believe that should take care of it.

I've also noticed when I've tried to use Handbrake on my Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale movies it will only record the first 20 minutes or so. This seems consistent with several other movies that I believe are distributed by Sony...it also occured on my copy of "A Beautiful Mind" and I feel like at least one other movie. Any ideas?

Sorry to hijack thread...but it is related to HandBrake.

So, on every DVD, if I want the entire DVD, I need to queue each title?

On your average movie, you only need the one title that is the longest, and Handbrake knows this so usually selects it by default.

When ripping a TV Show off a DVD, then you need to select each of the 4 titles in turn since each one is a discrete entity.

PricklyPete, that is Sony's DRM, I think you can use MacTheRipper to remove the DRM, but don't quote me on that.

I haven't had luck with MacTheRipper for Sony discs, but I'm still on the 2.6.6 version, it might've been fixed in the 3.0 builds. I'm going to give RipIt a try though, and Fairmount.

u have to rip it with something that takes out the copyprotection... i find that dvdfab/anydvd keep up with the sony protections..just gotta get the updated program each time grr

sony dvds are notorious for their rapidly evolving anti rip schemes...

as for titles, you gotta queue each one up for encode then hit encode in the queue.
they should have an option for add all really...
