Problem with Gigabyte 7NF-RZ nForce 2 board

I posted this in the motherboard forum a couple days ago but didn't get a response so I thought I'd try it here in hopes that someone can help me out.

I built a system for a friend using the gigabyte 7NF-RZ nForce2 board. I noticed in the device manager (after installing all the nforce drivers) that the LAN port wasn't listed. So I went into the bios to make sure the onboard LAN was enabled only to find out that there is no option for it.

In the manual, it shows a screenshot of the BIOS with an option for the onboard LAN listed with a * denoting that it's only available on 7NF-RZ. Well, that's what I have, and there's no option for it (and yes, there is a LAN port on the motherboard).

I tried downloading the latest bios and flashed it, still no option for LAN.

Anyone know what the deal is here? I'm rather confused why they would ship a motherboard with a LAN port on it, but no way to enable it in the bios.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Sometimes Gigabyte offers so many varieties of motherboards that some get bypassed by the enthusiast gearheads. The GA 7N400 and its variations is the most popular NF2 from Gigabyte. Maybe the same LAN is used in it, and similar Bios functions from one of those would be of value as a comparison. Personally, my own recent acquisition of a GA 7N400-L is still in its box, awaiting a PSU to fit the enclosure that MB was earmarked for.

In other words, I haven't tried to enable the LAN on that Gigabyte MB yet (I do have an Abit NF7-S that doesn't want to use ITS own LAN port, but that MB has enough other problems that I'm getting a RMA on it!) You are aware that most MB driver sets separate out the LAN drivers, so you must specifically install those?

Yes, I have tried installing the ethernet drivers to no avail.

The problem is Windows doesn't even recognize that the ethernet port exists (nothing in device manager as "unknown" and there are no network devices listed). The problem has to be that the bios isn't enabling the ethernet port, and for whatever reason, there is no option to do so.

Which is where I get stumped.

I think you'll need to take this up with gigabyte tech support. This makes no sense to me.

I have same mobo. The LAN setting is in BIOS under INTEGRATED PERIPHERALS, look for ON_CHIP LAN. The default is AUTO and other option is disabled.

Problem I have is after while online playing it looses it's connection and I need to reboot. I have latest Nvidia chipset drivers in.
