BTW, this is the e-mail that I sent to them. Following it is our conversation about the CPU's it supports.

Hi!
Thank you for fixing the page, though I have couple of comments. I know FOR FACT that the motherboard revision 1.01 DOES support Celeron 533MHz - 600MHz FC-PGA, but nothing higher than that. Here is a press release confirming this information:

Intel® Celeron? Processor
Use of the boxed Intel® Celeron? processor on Older Flip-Chip Pin Grid Array (FC-PGA) motherboards

Integrators should use Intel® Celeron? processors up to 600 MHz maximum on older Intel® 810 chipset family motherboards. The reason for this is that the older boards implement a uniplane design where as flexible motherboards implement a split Vcc and Vtt planes. To run Intel Celeron processors greater than 600 MHz requires a split plane Flex-ATX board like the Intel® Desktop Board CA810e.

Please contact your motherboard manufacturer to determine if this processor is supported on your motherboard.

So, the online motherboard do support Celerons FC-PGA, however, only up to 600MHz as I had an unfortunate experience of finding out.

To further prove you that the board supports FC-PGA (particularly 533MHz FC-PGA), please see the following link:

http://bbwsd.com/tekram/

This is a page of a friend of mine who purchased your motherboard (S381-ML, in particular) and coupled it with a Celeron II/533MHz and is running it flawlessly since then. You can reflect this information on your website accordingly. And, if you just want to keep it simple and say that it only supports PPGA and no FC-PGA, the maximum frequency the PPGA chips go is 533MHz, not 566MHz as the website states. FC-PGA chips start at 533MHz as well.

Thank you for listening to a customer of yours, I was quite impressed that you changed the information after I alerted you to the error.

Sincerely,
Lukas Racicky

Nevermind, I will keep the board. I have a question though -

clap clap... it would be better if it stated, "Thanks to Lukfilm." :)

meanwhile, its very odd that it can support FC-PGA but only up to 600. My only explanation is the Multipler only goes up to 9X.

andylawcc,

read Eug's information to find out why this is so. It's NOT because of the multiplier as the CPU itself tells the motherboard the multiplier it wants to use.

This a reply that I got after sending them my previous email:

Doh! Yes, 533Mhz or lower. Your testing may indicate compatibility
with some FC-PGA CPUs, but our engineers in Taiwan say that in their testing, the FC-PGA will fail and so only PPGA are supported. So, they do not guarantee FC-PGA CPUs will work, therefore we don't either. Thanks for the help.

And after that, I asked them for a free motherboard :)

Hey, thanks for the kudos, but I'm just regurgitating what I found on the Intel website, knowing that a 533A works and a 633 does not with that mobo revision. Take with a grain of salt, though, because I have never tested that board myself. If you do get a 600, please post your results.

Glad to see the curses have stopped though. ;)

Someone else might be interested in seeing what this motherboard can actually do...
