Problem with firewall and printer sharing.

The only way I can get my Win 2000 notebook to see the printer on my Win XP desktop is to disable my firewall (ZA) on the desktop. Any ideas?

When you had ZoneAlarm running and the Win2k notebook tried connecting did you block the request? It sounds like you might have and that would cause the win2k notebook to be unable to connect. Look through the ZoneAlarm settings and see if you accidently blocked access.

I had a similar issue. Click the security tab on zonealarm click the advanced button click add and input the ip# of the trusted machine.
This works for me since I am behind a firewall router and am not using dhcp. ie static ips for all my machines.
I hope this may help you. If not I wish you luck in finding your answer
