Problem with external usb hd

I have a regular 250 gig ide drive in a nexxtech nc2 external enclosure. Its usb and has always worked just fine. Recently I disconnected the enclosure for a bit. Now whenever I plug it back into my comp, windows detects it and wants to install drivers for it. I can't get it to just recognize it again. This is very frustrating as it has always worked previously. Any idea how to get windows to stop trying to install drivers for it?
