Problem with dxdiag

When I run dxdiag, I get this message that reads -

"DxDiag has detected that there may have been a problem accessing DirectShow the last time this program was used. Would you like to bypass DirectShow this time?"

If I click "Yes," then I can access dxdiag. If I click "No," then it freezes up, and I have to Ctrl, Alt, Del and end the non-responsive program. I tried reinstalling Direct X, but it did not help, as I already have DX9.0c installed. What can I do? I am thinking that it might be causing a problem for me in one of my games, Vampire - Bloodlines.
