Problem with dual monitors when gaming (7970 Ghz)

Hey everyone...

I am having a problem playing games (Simcity and Crysis 3) on both of my monitors. Although my dual desktop is properly working, I cannot seem to get my system to play on both screens while gaming. Right now my first screen displays the game while my second screen just shows my desktop background. I have no issue at all when looking at my Windows background.

I have installed the latest AMD drivers so that is not the issue.

Also, I am playing my games through Origin, not sure if that makes a difference. I am running Windows 7 too.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I believe it is stretch, as I can go between both monitors while in Windows. It is only when playing my game I cannot get it to display on both monitors. If I disable "full screen mode" in Simcity, I can drag the view to display in the middle of both screens, but I cannot expand it to display FULLY on both screens....

In your driver settings; there will be a spot to set up either eyefinity profile; second desk top either clone or stretch. I use clone for recording.

I would need to test at home with my system with my 1080p tv and my monitor; can run hdmi to tv and duel dvi to my monitor.....of course it will bring 6870 most likely to its knees :)

But when I do game recording clone seem to work find to get games recorded without issue.....

Yea what's happened; is you're playing on one screen rest of the desktop is still stretched.......

I think to get it up and running you'll need to set up eyefinity profile that should stretch it over your two screens......:) since I've not tested this I'm not exactly sure

You can't do this with dual monitors. You're wanting surround with 2 screens?

You can't do that. If you have 2 monitors your game will show up on the primary screen, and the desktop will show on the second non-primary screen. I've used dual monitors on various cards for some time and it has always been like this - for as long as i've gamed.

If you want a 3D dirextX game to span all screens you need 3 minimum. What you're asking for isn't possible, 3d applications will appear on primary only. Again. You need 1 more screen to span all in 3d directX applications.

Well, it is working now! Once I made the switch to an extended display, Simcity allowed me to change my display to 3840 x 1080.

Everything looks brilliant now! Thanks Again!!!

Wow. I didn't even realize that was possible. Does it work in just fullscreen windowed games or all games?
